What we are
Placer Match is a local marketplace for Placer County, California. It exists to answer one question well: what are you trying to get done, and who nearby can do it?
Most directories start from the business and work outward — a list of companies, sorted by who paid. We start from the project. You describe the job in your own words, we work out what kind of business that needs, and we show you the ones that serve your community, with an explanation of why each one appeared.
Ask Placer
Ask Placer is a feature of Placer Match, not a separate company. It is a guided project concierge: it asks about your project step by step and suggests a service category. It is rules-based software using our own category data. It is not artificial intelligence, not a live operator and not an expert, and we do not describe it as any of those.
Where we are in the build
Placer Match is new and being built in the open. Right now most listings are demo listings — fictional businesses, clearly labelled, that exist to show how a real profile will look. They are not real companies and their contact details are not real.
Real businesses are being added over time. Until that work is far enough along, this site is not indexed by search engines.
How we make money
Basic listings are free. We intend to earn revenue from paid business memberships, project-opportunity packages and clearly labelled sponsorships. No payments are being collected today.
What we will not sell: verification badges, organic ranking, review removal, or your personal data. That is set out in full in our advertising disclosure.
What we are not
- Not a government service. Placer Match is independently operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Placer County government or any public agency. Nothing here is an official county directory.
- Not a guarantee. We do not vouch for work quality, and listing or verification is not a recommendation.
- Not a contractor. We do not perform work, employ tradespeople, or take part in your contract. Any agreement is between you and the business.
- Not a lead auction. We do not sell the same enquiry to as many businesses as possible.
How we talk about businesses
We are careful with words. We will not call a business recommended, endorsed, licensed, insured, verified or background-checked unless there is a specific record supporting that exact claim. Where we have not checked something, we say so. Where a rating comes from somewhere else, we name the source.
